Attempts to collect debt not owed: Debt collection
I am submitting this complaint because Americollect is attempting to collect an alleged debt of $650.00 that I do not recognize. I have no knowledge of this account and do not believe I owe this debt. Despite my lack of knowledge regarding this account, Americollect has repeatedly contacted me by phone, and the frequency of these calls has become excessive and harassing. Their collection efforts have caused unnecessary stress, especially since they have not provided sufficient information to verify that this debt belongs to me. I respectfully request that Americollect provide complete validation of the alleged debt, including the name of the original creditor, the date the debt was incurred, copies of any documents bearing my signature or otherwise showing that I am legally responsible for the account, and an itemized breakdown of the amount they claim is owed. If Americollect can not provide adequate proof that this debt belongs to me, I request that they immediately cease all collection activities, stop contacting me regarding this alleged debt, and remove any inaccurate information they may have reported to any consumer reporting agencies. I ask the CFPB to investigate this matter and ensure that my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), if applicable, are protected.
