Attempts to collect debt not owed: Debt collection
CFPB Complaint I am submitting this complaint because I am the victim of identity theft. My personal information was exposed in a data breach, and fraudulent account ( s ) were opened using my identity without my knowledge or authorization. I dispute these account ( s ) because I did not open them, authorize them, or benefit from them in any way. I have notified the credit bureaus and requested an investigation, but the inaccurate information remains on my credit report and continues to harm my creditworthiness. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), I request that the company conduct a reasonable investigation, provide verification that the account belongs to me, and remove any fraudulent or unverifiable information from my credit reports. If the company can not provide evidence that I authorized the account, it should be deleted immediately. I also request copies of all documents related to the account, including the original application, any signatures, IP address records, device information, payment history, and any other records used to verify my identity. I am requesting that the CFPB assist in ensuring this matter is resolved promptly and that all fraudulent information is removed from my credit reports.
