Communication tactics: Debt collection
I am submitting this complaint against Synchrony Bank regarding what I believe to be excessive and unlawful collection communications. Synchrony Bank has repeatedly contacted me concerning an alleged debt. Despite my efforts to address the matter and/or requests to limit communications, I have received collection calls in excess of the frequency permitted under federal debt collection regulations. Specifically, Synchrony Bank contacted me more than seven times within a seven-day period regarding the same debt. I believe these actions violate the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau 's debt collection communication rules and constitute harassment. As a result of these excessive communications, I have experienced significant stress and disruption. I am requesting that the CFPB investigate Synchrony Bank 's collection practices and require the company to : Cease any collection communications that violate federal law. Review and correct its collection procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Provide a written explanation of its actions and records of collection attempts made on my account. Provide any appropriate relief available under the law. I have maintained records of the dates, times, and frequency of these communications.
