Fees or interest: Credit card
I am filing this complaint against Bank of America for executing an unauthorized transaction, causing a billing error, and refusing to reverse a fee resulting from their own system glitch. Approximately 2-3 weeks ago, I submitted an online request to Bank of America for a balance transfer of $10000.00. Within one week of my submission, Bank of America explicitly declined this request. Because the transaction was officially declined, the matter was closed, and I was forced to secure an alternate financial route with a different credit card issuer to manage my debt. However, one week after explicitly declining my request, Bank of America 's automated system unilaterallly initiated a brand new transaction. Without my authorization, consent, or any prior notification, they processed a lesser, unrequested payment amount and sent it to my other creditor, hitting my account with a balance transfer fee. I was not notified of this action until after the funds were already sent, at which point the transfer was completely unnecessary. When I contacted Bank of America to resolve this issue and request a refund of the fee, my request was denied. Bank of America does not have the legal right to formally deny a customer 's specific transaction request, wait a week, and then independently execute a completely different dollar amount without the customer 's explicity authorization. This is a severe processing and system error that has left me double-funded and unfairly penalized with a fee.
