Incorrect information on your report: Credit reporting or other personal consumer reports
I am submitting this complaint because Credit Acceptance is attempting to collect on an account that I do not recognize and did not open. I have never financed a vehicle through Credit Acceptance Corporation and I did not apply for or authorize this account. After I disputed the account, I received documents that include an address where I have never lived. The presence of incorrect personal information further supports my belief that this account is the result of identity theft or mistaken identity. I have filed an Identity Theft Report with the Federal Trade Commission and have attached it to this complaint. I am requesting that Credit Acceptance conduct a thorough identity theft investigation, provide all documentation used to verify the identity of the person who opened this account ( including the credit application, identification presented, insurance information, and any other supporting records ), and remove any inaccurate information if they can not verify that I was the person who entered into this transaction. This inaccurate account is causing me harm by affecting my credit and creating financial hardship. I request that Credit Acceptance stop reporting and collecting this account unless they can establish through competent evidence that I am the person who opened it.
