Managing an account: Checking or savings account
I have had my checking account with USAA for over 30 years and used it the same way for all of that time. Now my checking account has been frozen and any debits I have made to pay my bills are being rejected while USAA is gladly accepting funds that are being deposited. USAA claims I am using the account for business purposes however they never gave me an opportunity to explain transitions on the account before they froze my account. Now the money I use to pay my bills is frozen in the account. I have called multiple times and asked for resolution but the customer service people I speak with refuse to allow me to speak with anyone who can handle this situation. I have asked for the account to be closed and for them to send me my funds. They said they would after the pending deposits settled. Now its been about a week since the pending deposits settled and they still refuse to close my account and deliver my funds to me. It should be illegal for a bank to accept funds into the same accounts that they refuse to allow me to debit. The reason they said they froze my account is because I have personal rental properties and I deposit the checks into my checking account. I do not file a business tax return, I only file a personal return which I include those rent payments. Therefore I never even thought it would be an issue if I deposit rent checks. Further, I was never given any notice that this was going to happen. They said they uploaded it as a PDF in my statements and documents tab which no one ever looks at. For such a serious issue, they should have reached out to me directly via mail.
