Managing an account: Checking or savings account
I am a full-time trader, and my bank account regularly has a high volume of legitimate transactions related to my work. I believe this activity may have caused U.S. Bank to flag my account for a fraud review, although the bank has not confirmed the reason. Without prior notice, U.S. Bank restricted my access to my account and all of the funds in it. I immediately contacted the bank and requested information about the restriction. I asked whether my account was frozen or being closed, the reason for the fraud review, what documentation they needed from me, how long the investigation would take, whether any of my funds could be released, and requested a case number and written explanation. Despite my efforts to cooperate, U.S. Bank has refused to provide meaningful information about why my funds are being withheld, what I need to do to resolve the issue, or when I can expect access to my money. I have not received any written notice explaining the restriction. As a result, I have been left without access to my own funds and without a clear process for resolving the matter. I respectfully request that U.S. Bank provide a written explanation for the restriction, identify any information or documentation they require from me, explain the legal basis for withholding my funds, provide a timeline for completing the review, and promptly restore access to my legitimate funds if there is no lawful basis to continue restricting them.
