Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem: Credit reporting or other personal consumer reports
I am filing this complaint because Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian have violated my federally protected consumer rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), 15 U.S.C. 1681 et seq. Violations include but are not limited to the following : 15 U.S.C. 1681, Section 602 ( a ) : I have the right to privacy and confidentiality. My private consumer information has been unlawfully shared and reported without my consent. 15 U.S.C. 1681b ( 604 ( a ) ( 2 ) ) : A consumer reporting agency may not furnish a consumer report without my written instructions. I have not provided such authorization. 15 U.S.C. 1681c ( a ) ( 5 ) : A consumer reporting agency is prohibited from reporting obsolete or unlawful information. 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( a ) ( 1 ) : A furnisher of information may not knowingly provide inaccurate or unverifiable information to a consumer reporting agency. Despite these clear statutory protections, the following accounts and/or inquiries have been reported in violation of my rights : [ List accounts/inquiries here include creditor names, dates, and account numbers if applicable ] These actions constitute repeated violations of my consumer rights and have caused harm to my financial and personal well-being. I am demanding : The immediate removal of the above-listed accounts/inquiries from my credit file. A full investigation into the unlawful reporting and furnishing of my private consumer information. Written confirmation of compliance with my FCRA rights. I respectfully request that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ) investigate these violations and take enforcement action as necessary to ensure compliance with federal law.
