Written notification about debt: Debt collection
I dispute the results of your investigation regarding the Jefferson Capital Systems account. Your records indicate that you concluded a " reasonable '' or " thorough '' investigation was conducted and that the account was verified. However, based on the information available to me, I do not believe a reasonable investigation, as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), was conducted. Despite my dispute, I have not been provided with competent evidence demonstrating that Jefferson Capital Systems has the legal authority to collect this alleged debt or to furnish information regarding this account to consumer reporting agencies. Nor have I been provided documentation supporting the ownership of the account, the chain of assignment, or records substantiating the accuracy and completeness of the information being reported. Accordingly, I request that you provide the method of verification used during your investigation, including : * The name, address, and telephone number of the person or entity that verified the account. * The documents relied upon to verify the account. * The date the verification was obtained. * An explanation of how you determined the reported information was accurate and complete. If your investigation consisted solely of electronically confirming information supplied by Jefferson Capital Systems without reviewing supporting documentation, I respectfully contend that such a process does not satisfy the requirement under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to conduct a reasonable investigation of disputed information. Because the disputed information has not been adequately substantiated, I request that the Jefferson Capital Systems account be deleted from my consumer credit file pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act if it can not be verified through competent evidence. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
