Written notification about debt: Debt collection
Subject : Failure to Meaningfully Respond to Documentation Request I am submitting this complaint because Bank of America has twice failed to meaningfully respond to my written requests regarding this account. I previously disputed this account directly with Bank of America and later submitted a detailed written request through the CFPB asking for documentation supporting the account and the information being reported. In my correspondence, I requested documentation, including the basis for the alleged debt, an itemization of the balance, payment history, the date of first delinquency, and documentation supporting the information being furnished regarding this account. Rather than addressing the specific documentation I requested, Bank of America responded only with a general statement that its investigation concluded the information being reported is accurate. The response did not explain how my individual requests were addressed, nor did it identify whether the requested records were unavailable, withheld, or simply not being provided. My concern is not that Bank of America disagrees with me. My concern is that the company has repeatedly failed to provide a substantive response to the specific documentation I requested, despite being given multiple opportunities to do so. I am requesting that Bank of America conduct a meaningful review of my request and either : * Provide a complete response addressing the documentation I requested, or * Clearly explain why the requested documentation can not or will not be provided. I believe consumers deserve more than a generic statement that information is accurate when they have submitted detailed, specific requests seeking to understand the basis for the reporting and the account history. I appreciate the CFPBs assistance in facilitating a meaningful response from Bank of America.
