Written notification about debt: Debt collection
I dispute the response provided by American Profit Recovery because it fails to address the substance of my complaint. The company simply stated that the account had not previously been disputed with its office, claimed compliance with the FDCPA, and indicated it would mark the account as disputed and provide validation. However, it did not provide any evidence demonstrating that it conducted a reasonable investigation before furnishing or continuing to furnish this account to the consumer reporting agencies. I requested validation because I questioned the accuracy and legal enforceability of this alleged debt. Instead of providing competent evidence, such as a signed agreement, complete payment history, chain of assignment, or documentation supporting the balance owed, the company responded with general statements of compliance. A conclusory statement is not proof that the debt has been properly validated or that the information being reported is accurate. The continued reporting of this account has negatively affected my credit profile and has caused unnecessary stress and financial hardship. I am requesting that American Profit Recovery either provide complete documentation establishing its legal authority to collect and report this account or immediately request deletion of the account from all consumer reporting agencies if it can not substantiate its reporting with competent evidence.
