Managing an account: Checking or savings account
I am requesting assistance regarding Wells Fargos denial of my dispute involving an unauthorized debit card charge on my business checking account. The hotel was authorized to charge my debit card $150.00, and I have the receipt proving that amount. However, the hotel also charged my account an additional $72.00, which I did not authorize. I did not receive any goods or services for this additional charge, and there is no receipt or documentation showing that I approved it. Despite providing Wells Fargo with evidence of the authorized $150.00 charge, the bank denied my dispute, stating only that the transaction occurred at the merchants location and that my card was in my possession. This does not establish that I authorized the separate $72.00 charge. I request that Wells Fargo be required to reopen the investigation and produce evidence that I specifically authorized the additional $72.00 charge. If the merchant can not provide proof that I authorized this charge or received goods or services for it, the charge should be reversed. I have attached the receipt showing the authorized charge of $150.00, Wells Fargos dispute decision, and my account statement showing the disputed $72.00 transaction. I respectfully request the CFPBs assistance in ensuring this matter is fully and fairly investigated.
