Managing an account: Checking or savings account

There was a check deposited in my bank account that has been placed on an executive hold to cover overdraft fees. The overdraft fees were well under the check amount. They will not release the funds for 7 days which is causing more overdraft fees. The representative said there is nothing they can do.
