Managing the loan or lease: Vehicle loan or lease
Truist Team, I am writing to you in hopes that this matter can finally be resolved at the executive level after more than two years of unsuccessful attempts through Truists normal customer service channels. I have repeatedly contacted Truist regarding payments that were improperly applied. On numerous occasions, payments that should have reduced principal were instead applied entirely, or almost entirely, to interest. Every time I identified these discrepancies, I was assured the issue would be researched and corrected. Over the past two years, I have spent countless hours on the phone with Truist representatives. My longest call lasted just shy of five hours, and there have been many other lengthy conversations in addition to numerous follow-up calls and emails. Despite the extraordinary amount of time and effort I have invested, the issue remains unresolved. What has been most frustrating is that every Truist associate who has thoroughly reviewed the account has acknowledged that the account is incorrect. At no point have I been told the account was accurate. Instead, I have consistently been told that corrections were needed, that the account would be reconciled, or that the matter had been escalated for further review. Unfortunately, those assurances have repeatedly resulted in little or no meaningful action. Throughout this entire process, I have asked for only one thing : that my account be corrected to accurately reflect how my payments should have been applied based on the dates they were received. I have never sought anything beyond having my loan serviced correctly. As the reconciliation process continued month after month without resolution, I eventually reached a point where I could no longer justify continuing to make payments toward an account that Truist itself acknowledged was inaccurate. Continuing to pay into an account that the bank admitted required correction only compounded the problem. I therefore withheld further payments until the account could be properly reconciled and corrected. Rather than correcting the account, Truist chose to report the loan as delinquent to the credit bureaus. The negative reporting exists solely because Truist has failed to correct its own servicing errors despite repeatedly acknowledging that those errors exist. The financial impact is one issue. The emotional and personal impact has been another. This matter has caused an extraordinary amount of unnecessary stress, frustration, and lost time. No customer should have to spend years trying to convince a bank to correct mistakes that the bank itself has already admitted occurred. Despite everything that has happened, I am still attempting to resolve this matter amicably. As a compromise, I am willing to waive any reimbursement or refund for the money that should have been credited to my account as a result of the improper application of payments. My only request is that Truist provide written confirmation that it will : Permanently remove all negative credit reporting associated with this account that resulted from these servicing errors. Notify all applicable credit reporting agencies that the derogatory reporting was made in error and request deletion of those entries. Provide written confirmation that the account reconciliation has been completed and that no additional negative reporting related to these disputed servicing issues will occur. I believe this is a fair and reasonable compromise considering the time, inconvenience, and damages I have already experienced. I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve this matter directly with Truists executive leadership. I respectfully request a written response within five ( 5 ) business days. Thank you for your time and attention. I sincerely hope Truist chooses to do what is right by correcting the consequences of these acknowledged servicing errors and bringing this matter to a fair conclusion.
