Unable to get your credit report or credit score: Credit card
Wells Fargo advertises that it reports authorized users to the credit bureaus but has chosen not to collect the identifying information necessary to reliably associate the tradeline with my daughter 's credit file. Rather than allowing me to update the authorized user 's identifying information on my/our existing account, Wells Fargo informed me that my only option is to close a longstanding account and open a new one to add my daughters social security number to the account. This is unacceptable given the age and history of my account. Authorized user reporting is a recognized method of helping establish a credit history. An account she has been actively managing with me for several years, yet the account does not show up on her credit reports. Wells Fargo has acknowledged that they furnish authorized user information to the credit bureaus but advised they do not collect Social Security numbers for authorized users on my account. I believe the absence of sufficient identifying information is the sole reason preventing the account from being matched to her credit file because it is not showing up. I am requesting that Wells Fargo provide a process to add my daughter 's Social Security number to our existing authorized user profile and update the information furnished to the credit bureaus without requiring me to close my longstanding credit card account and open a new one. This is not acceptable given the long-standing use and age of this account. It is deceptive to state that you reporting to the bureaus but the bureaus state there is not enough identifying information to recognize the card. ccording to Wells Fargo, they are already furnishing my daughter 's authorized user information to the credit bureaus using only her name, address, and date of birth because they do not collect her Social Security number on my existing account. The credit bureaus can only report the information that Wells Fargo furnishes to them. If Wells Fargo is not providing sufficient identifying information for the bureaus to confidently match the authorized user account to my daughter 's credit file, then the credit bureaus have no information to correct. A dispute with the bureaus would simply result in them verifying the information exactly as it was furnished by Wells Fargo. This is not a dispute over inaccurate payment history, an incorrect balance, or ownership of the account. The issue is Wells Fargo 's inability or refusal to update the identifying information associated with my daughter 's authorized user profile on my existing account. The resolution I am requesting is for Wells Fargo to provide a process to add my daughter 's Social Security number to her existing authorized user profile and to furnish the updated identifying information to the credit reporting agencies. Directing me to dispute the matter with the credit bureaus does not address the source of the problem, which is the information being furnished by Wells Fargo.
